Our Influences : Fritz Lang

Austrian filmmaker and producer. Dubbed the "Master of Darkness" by the British Film Institute, his most famous films are the groundbreaking Metropolis which at the time of its release was the world's most expensive silent film and M made before he moved to the United States, his iconic precursor to the film noir genre.

Lang's work helped to establish the defining characteristics of the film noir genre with its recurring themes of psychological conflict, paranoia, fate and moral ambiguity. His work influenced filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock, Claude Chabrol and Stanley Kubrick.

Fritz Lang has influenced our work in that our own music video idea, although not extreme as Lang's work which often featured depictions of murder, violence and crime, has pretty dark ideas and strong social themes which we want to portray effectively.
