After several weeks editing, myself and Alex have completed a rough cut of our music video which we have already posted onto this blog. Initially, we experienced difficulties during the editing process. To our dismay we found that we didn't have enough footage so we had to complete an extra day of filming alongside the two days we had already designated for filming.
Also, we wanted to create a video montage of our location, so we went out on location and took many photographs which we will include in a later post. We used these pictures in quick cuts to break up the footage and show off our location.
From the start of the project, we have visualized an entirely black and white video and feel that our rough cut is effective but in our final version we plan to use the 'Pleasantville Effect' to add contrast to key scenes. Also we will play around with the contrast and the colour of the film so that certain areas of the frame stand out.

Group Meeting 9 - Filming
Alex and myself have now completed 2 days of filming. On the first day of filming, our main location was our friend Amy's house. This location will be the main setting for the last minute of our video. On the second day of filming, we filmed at Orchard Estate, which is the setting for the first minute of our video. We will need to complete a third day of footage in order to have all the required footage.
Group Meeting 8
We completed the storyboard and took pictures of each individual Post-it note. The pictures were then uploaded onto the computer, labelled and imported into Final Cut. We used these pictures to create an Animatic which shows the narrative pattern our video is going to follow with details on camera angles and movement. This method is more effective than a tradition flat, 2D storyboard as it gives you a more visual idea of what the finished video will look like and also enables us to practise our editing skills which will prove useful when we come to edit our real video. We plan to create a YouTube account and export this animatic and other videos we have created onto our channel so that they can easily be transferred onto the blog
(INSERT STORYBOARD PICTURE)
Now that this is complete, we will shortly begin the process of filming.

Group Meeting 8
We took pictures of all relevant paperwork relating to our music video project such as rough notes and brainstorms and posted them, over time we will improve and expand on these in detail so we have posted these so we can demonstrate the ongoing research and planning process

We are currently in the process of creating a storyboard for our music video idea, in order to do this we have used our storyboard to create a shot list for the entire video.
When this is complete, we plan to create an extensive version of the shot list which will include minute by minute details of the action in the video, locations, character and costume requirements so we know exactly what to do.
As Alex is in charge of filming, it will be her responsibility to ensure that the shot list is accurate.

We have completed most of the research for the project, there are still several key items of research and planning such as brainstorms which we need to put up on the blog.
We are currently in the process of using our timeline to storyboard our work onto Post-It notes. When this is complete we will use the post-it notes to create a mock up of our video on FinalCut and see whether our ideas will work.

Group Meeting 4
After discussion as to what information we were looking to find out from our audience so as to help us with the research and development of our music video, myself and Alex devised a questionnaire. We were originally unsure as to what questions to ask, Alex wanted to focus on questions related to our video ideas but I wanted to find out information about the audience tastes, genres of music they listen to and their music media habits.
The questions were:
1. Are you male or female?
2. What is your favourite genre of music?
3. Do you prefer songs with lyrics or instrumental tracks?
4. Are you familiar with the "House" genre?
5. If so, who is your favourite artist with this genre?
6. Do you think music videos are most effective when they are conceptual, narrative or performance based?
7. Are you familiar with the silent film genre?
8. In your opinion, would an entirely black and white video be effective?
9. Do you regularly watch music channels?
10. If so, which three do you watch most often?

Group Meeting 3
After choosing the song for our video, myself and Alex began to discuss ideas. Originally we decided to to take a more conceptual approach and some of the ideas we discussed featured strong social messages with literal interpretations of the song title "Aspirin"
An idea we both approved of related to the idea of taking a pill, in this case an aspirin, not just to make you feel physically better but also to improve other aspects of your life such as wealth, appearance and intelligence. The message behind this idea was society's reliance on quick fixes, the constant search for an instant solution to problems. However, after more thought we decided that this may not be an appropriate idea as it could appear to be glamorising the use of drugs.
We then began to discuss more narrative based ideas. An idea which we felt was particularly strong was that of a girl who is lost and is trying to find her way home and along the way she repeatedly tries to get help and ignored. We like this idea as there is a strong social message behind it, society is often selfish and reluctant to help others. This is the idea we have chosen to base our video around and have documented in the timeline.

After discussing our shortlist, the song we have chosen for our video is Johnny Muse's "Aspirin"
Aspirin is a classic house song. We chose this genre of music as it is really upbeat and energetic which fits around our ideas for the music video.

Group Meeting 1
The first thing myself and Sophia discussed was a possible short list of songs. We had already decided use our own initiative and use an original song from the record label 2MR2 where Sophia is currently working.
www.myspace.com/2mr2records
"The music we produce is the music we love...accept no imitations."
Formed between experienced Slovak DJ Michal MisTech and UK producer Yemenite; 2MR2 Records is the result of their passion for electronic music. The two started playing together as DJs and now continue to drive their vision with their label and own productions. 2MR2 Records features productions that include electro house, progressive, trance and tech house tracks.

We have gone for this genre of music because it is upbeat and energetic which reflects the sort of video we are aiming to create.
Now we have identified the specific genre that we want to do, we will now start to narrow down possible songs on our shortlist to use for our video. We are going to do this using the record labels beatport and sound cloud
