Aspirin Brainstorm 2

This was another brainstorm we created, we identified several categories such as concept, genre, shortlist and tried to come up with ideas for each one or discussed relevent points relating to each category for example within the genre category, we researched the genres of the songs within our shortlist and expanded the main genres and sub-genres to define what characterises these different genres as you can see above on the brainstorm where we expanded out from 'House' music to the 'Progressive' and 'Classic' sub-genres

Aspirin Brainstorm 1

This was the basis of a brainstorm we created for our music video idea. As you can see the song title is in the middle and we wrote all our ideas around it

Powerpoint

This slide talks about our inspirations.

This is our recipe of how to make a classic house video.

These are the genre characteristics.

This is the song we will be using. This includes the artists name, title of the song and where we can find it from.

This is our timeline which shows what will be happening at what times.

This is our word cloud that represents the main  themes and ideas for our music video.

We produced a questionnaire to get ideas from our audience about what they think of our ideas.

Group Meeting 3

After choosing the song for our video, myself and Alex began to discuss ideas. Originally we decided to to take a more conceptual approach and some of the ideas we discussed featured strong social messages with literal interpretations of the song title "Aspirin"
An idea we both approved of related to the idea of taking a pill, in this case an aspirin, not just to make you feel physically better but also to improve other aspects of your life such as wealth, appearance and intelligence. The message behind this idea was society's reliance on quick fixes, the constant search for an instant solution to problems. However, after more thought we decided that this may not be an appropriate idea as it could appear to be glamorising the use of drugs.

We then began to discuss more narrative based ideas. An idea which we felt was particularly strong was that of a girl who is lost and is trying to find her way home and along the way she repeatedly tries to get help and ignored. We like this idea as there is a strong social message behind it, society is often selfish and reluctant to help others. This is the idea we have chosen to base our video around and have documented in the timeline.

Group Meeting 2

After discussing our shortlist, the song we have chosen for our video is Johnny Muse's "Aspirin"
Aspirin is a classic house song. We chose this genre of music as it is really upbeat and energetic which fits around our ideas for the music video.
